Gabrielle Trach, is a maker based in Toronto, Canada. Grounded in research and theory my practice explores sustainability, memory, the environmental impact of the textile industry, as well as the resurgence of historical textile techniques. She holds a Master of Arts in Fashion from Ryerson University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University. Her work has been exhibited throughout Canada in both solo and group exhibitions.
Coming from a long line of makers and crafters, she feels pre-destined to a need to make. Over the years her love of the handmade and textiles has grown stronger. Through her practice, she aims to share her passion for handmade textile pieces, and hope to bring beauty to the lives of those around her. Her mission is to reduce textile and garment waste by turning them into soft furnishings, such as rugs, wall hangings, and much more.
